{"id":1943,"date":"2011-08-05T01:10:44","date_gmt":"2011-08-05T05:10:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doddcenter.wordpress.com\/?p=1943"},"modified":"2011-08-05T01:10:44","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T05:10:44","slug":"a-campus-by-the-shore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-dev.lib.uconn.edu\/archives\/2011\/08\/05\/a-campus-by-the-shore\/","title":{"rendered":"A Campus by the Shore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[slideshow]<\/p>\n<p>One of the loveliest spots in Connecticut also happens to be a regional campus of the University of Connecticut.\u00a0 In addition to serving as the home of UConn&#8217;s\u00a0Connecticut Sea Grant College Program, Project Oceanology, National Undersea Research Center and Long Island Sound Resource Center, the Avery Point campus is\u00a0situated on the site of what was the estate of Morton F. Plant, a wealthy businessman.\u00a0\u00a0 Built in 1903, Branford House and its grounds were lovingly documented in several hundred hand-colored photographs, some of which are shown above.\u00a0 The photographs, colored by Blanche M.
