University Photograph Collection, Archives and Special Collections, University of Connecticut Libraries.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a few months the\u00a0United States will\u00a0publish its third\u00a0<strong>Open Government National Action Plan<\/strong> (NAP) including\u00a0new and expanded open government initiatives to pursue from 2016 through 2018.\u00a0The US is part of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opengovpartnership.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Government Partnership<\/a> (OGP), a global effort to make governments more open and accountable to the public. Countries that participate in OGP are required to develop and carry out action plans that include concrete commitments to make the government more open. \u00a0&#8220;These plans are a true team effort \u2014 governments work alongside civil society in all 65 OGP countries to develop and implement the efforts within the plans, &#8221; according to the latest blog post from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/blog\/2015\/06\/04\/help-us-strengthen-open-government\" target=\"_blank\">Corinna Zarek, the\u00a0US rep to the OGP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How can you contribute?<\/p>\n<p>Share\u00a0NAP suggestions via email at\u00a0opengov@ostp.gov\u00a0or tweet\u00a0@OpenGov.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You can also contribute ideas to a\u00a0publicly available Hackpad\u00a0\u2014 an open, collaborative platform \u2014 that the General Services Administration is helping coordinate.
