This hands-on course will provide an introduction to  coastal inundation issues and coastal inundation mapping techniques. The  course is a combination of lectures and exercises that allow attendees  to gain a better understanding of the following topics:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Types of coastal inundation<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Coastal inundation production<\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Elevation data<\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Integration of elevation data<\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Creation of inundation maps<\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>New visualization techniques<\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Adapting to coastal risks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Please see <a href=\"http:\/\/mail.lib.uconn.edu\/exchweb\/bin\/redir.asp?URL=http:\/\/www.csc.noaa.gov\/digitalcoast\/training\/inundationmap.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.csc.noaa.gov\/digitalcoast\/training\/inundationmap.html<\/a>  for a complete course description. Please note that a working knowledge  of ArcGIS is required (version 9.3 will be used for this course).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The course will be offered at <b>NO COST<\/b>  (although there will be a $30 advance fee to cover refreshments and  lunches) and enrollment is limited to a max of 24 people.  People  eligible to attend should work for a not-for-profit organization;  municipal, regional, state or federal government; or academia and should  have an interest or responsibility in coastal resource management or  planning.
